YI Members Out Across The Country This Weekend

Black Country - Dan Jukes

YI Elections Officer Dan Jukes canvasses voters by phone.

Young Independence members where out in force across the country this weekend, campaigning to win by-elections and spread the UKIP message to all corners.

Our biggest action day came in the Black Country, where YI members where campaigning to see Keith Rowe elected as UKIP’s first Police Crime Commissioner.

YI members took to the phones in our West Midlands office, raising awareness of the election, before taking to the streets to canvass the area.

Members took time out during the day for a pint at the Seven Stars Pub in Sedgley.  With the pub facing closure, YI members along with local MEP Bill Etheridge lent their support to the campaign to keep the pub open.

The West Midlands PCC election is this Thursday, August 21st.  If you live in the East Midlands be sure to turn out and lend Keith Rowe your vote!

Jesmond

Elsewhere the dull weather could not keep UKIP off the campaign trail in Newcastle, with a good turnout in North Jesmond in anticipation for the upcoming City Council by-election. YI members from across the area joined the campaign.

There was a good reception for candidate Daniel Thompson, as he continues to campaign on important local issues such as the state of roads and unkempt rental properties.

This is the second action day YI has held for the election, but it won’t be the last.  YI members will be out again this coming Saturday, contact YI Tyneside Chairman Nick Sundin at nicksundin@gmail.com for more information.

The by-election takes place on August 28th. If you live in North Jesmond please lend your vote to our local UKIP candidate Daniel Thompson.

Darwen Gala 2

YI members help man the UKIP stall at the Darwen Annual Gala

Finally our North West Chairman Dayle Taylor joined other YI members in helping to man the UKIP table at the Darwen Annual Gala event in Darwen, Lancashire.

Dayle enjoyed an amusing interaction with Will Straw, son of former Foreign Secretary Jack Straw MP, with Dayle taking the opportunity to dispel many inaccurate myths about UKIP and our members.

With so much activity around the country YI is constantly pushing forward our message ahead of the General Election next May.  Why not join us?
