YI Membership DOUBLES in year:
Contrary to the common belief among our opponents that UKIP is a party made up of pensioners, cranks and fruitcakes we are pleased to announce today that membership of UKIP’s youth wing has surpassed 3,500 members, head and shoulders above Liberal Youth’s membership numbers. This is an enormous increase of 104%, or 1,800 members, since March 2014.
YI Chairman Jack Duffin praised these latest figures stating: “Young people are increasingly turning to UKIP as the real alternative to the establishment parties and this is exactly what this membership increase shows. It’s clear to see that UKIP has the most sensible and progressive policies in our manifesto especially when it comes to areas that affect young people such as education, taxation, jobs and housing.”
Over the past year YI has held some fantastic action days and conferences with young members given even more opportunity than ever before to get involved with YI.
Dan Paddock, Grassroots Organiser for YI, thanked the YI Regional and County Chairman who “have worked tirelessly tending to and growing the membership and activism amongst young people in their respective regions.”
Young Independence membership has surged the fastest in Wales and Yorkshire & North Lincolnshire, suggesting that our movement is making major headway in the Labour heartlands let down by Ed Miliband and his ilk.
