Young Independence Passes Motion Of No Confidence In Henry Bolton With 76% Support

Young Independence, the youth wing of the UK Independence Party has today voted in favour of a no confidence motion in Henry Bolton’s leadership of our party. 76% of members who voted were in favour of this motion, and therefore the motion is passed.

It has become clear to me that the youth of our party feel that the leader has treated them with contempt from day one. From ignoring our concerns on the 900% increase of the membership fee to breaking his promise to appoint the Young Independence chairman as Youth Affairs spokesperson for the party, Henry has neglected our young members, who are so desperately needed at this time where youth engagement in politics is on the rapid rise.

When I attended a meeting with Henry Bolton & Paul Oakden, Henry arrived several hours late. During the time we were waiting for his arrival, Paul & I agreed a very reasonable arrangement on membership fees which both parties were happy to settle on. However, Henry refused to agree to any deal and is not tolerating any budge in this totally irresponsible 900% fee increase.

This vote clearly shows that the membership of Young Independence feels that Henry Bolton is no longer the right individual to lead UKIP. I am today calling upon the NEC and the main party to take these results into serious consideration alongside all other events during their meeting on Sunday the 21st January.
