YI South East Regional By-Election
We are having a by-election for the role of the Young Independence South East Regional Chairperson due to the resignation of outgoing Chair Steven Gillingwater. He will be moving onto the role of Secretary for UKIP’s LGBT* wing.
The nominations open today and will close this Thursday (11th) at 3pm. The voting will start in the afternoon on Friday 13th and run until 3pm on Saturday 14th with results declared following the close of poll. The returning officer will be YI Grassroots Officer Dan Paddock.
To stand you must have been a member of UKIP for at least six months, live in the relevant region (South East) and be aged 30 or under. To nominate yourself, email firstname.lastname@example.org with a proposer, seconder and one side of A4 as a manifesto. You can download the nomination form here. Both must be YI members living in the region. Only members within the respective region will be able to vote.
The role of a Regional Chairperson is to attend the monthly National Council meetings, hold a bi-monthly meeting with the County Chairperson in your region, inviting the Regional Organiser and UKIP Regional Chairperson . Attend the Regional UKIP meetings as a non-voting member. Make sure there is an action day taking part in some part of the region every week, these can be organised by the County Chairman or Branch Representatives but means YI have an opportunity to campaign. Make sure there is at least one regional YI event each month as well as host the monthly training day within their region.
